The average person in a developing country uses less than 3 gallons each day. A typical person in American uses close to 100 gallons each day. Poor water conditions around the world results a child dying every two minutes as a result of clean water.

  • Over 2 million people die every year due to unsanitary water.
  • Half of the hospital beds in developing countries are filled with people who have water-related diseases
  • 1 billion people in the world do not have access to clean drinking water
  • Less than 1% of the world’s fresh water, which is about .007% of all water on the Earth, is readily accessible for Direct Human use
  • Unclean water kills more people than any other form of violence other form of violence, including war, every year
  • What’s in the water? At any given time, HALF the world’s population suffers from water-related diseases such as:
    • E.coli
    • Schistosoma
    • Malaria
    • Salmonella typhi (Typhoid Fever)
    • Hepititis A
    • Cholera vibrios
    • Dysentery
    • Giardia
    • Diarrhea Bacteria (this is also a symptom of other water borne diseases. Mis-diagnosis and left untreated, kills more than children than malaria, AIDS, and measles combined

Gathering water in developing countries is primarily done by women and children who often walk up to 3 hours per day to a water source that is sometimes no better than a swamp, river or pond.

The walk is dangerous.

The walk is often done alone.

Many of the children are attacked by animals or other predators, and when they make it home, the water is still not always safe to drink.

Time spent collecting water is time not spend

  • Getting an education
  • Caring for families
  • Earning income

How to Help:

Providing a village with a clean water solution provides more than water. It provides the entire village, especially women and children, ways to improve and save their lives.

Chemically treating water often leaves an unpalatable taste, odor and discoloration. This option is usually the most costly over time.

Boiling water is very effective. However, finding heat sources and waiting for the water to cool completely before drinking is ineffective us of time when there are life saving filter solutions available.

Filtration is the best solution. With the biggest complaint being proper weekly maintenance, our filters can easily be cleaned in less than 10 minutes. One hollow fiber membrane filter, in favorable environmental conditions, can produce thousands of gallons of safe drinking water before being replaced. One filter has the ability to produce over 100,000 gallons of clean water, which means saving thousands of children from death. The filters will remove 99.9999% of bacteria, protozoa, and cysts from the contaminated water. No electricity or chemicals are needed for proper use of the filters; only two buckets and gravity! They are easy to maintain and exceed EPA standards.
