How to start a fundraiser

Starting a fundraiser for Water for Life Charity is simple and can be part of what you do every day. Here are the steps to start a fundraiser and start sharing clean, safe water around the world:

Set a goal

$30 provides a filter for one family to access safe water right at home. A well for a small community costs between $6,000 and $12,000 depending on the location, well type, and well depth. Set a goal for how much you want to raise, whether that be a specific dollar ammount or a number of filters or wells, and the date by which you want to reach your goal.

Set up your fundraiser

Determine how you’ll raise money for clean water in your community! This can be as simple as setting up a fundraiser on your social media pages or starting an event in your local community connected to your personal interests and talents. Here are a few ideas on what to do for your fundraiser:

  • Go on Facebook or Instagram and set up a fundraiser.
  • For your birthday, ask friends and family to donate to Water for Life Charity.
  • Host a lemonade stand or bake sale.
  • Hold a concert with your favorite local band (or yourself if you’re a musician!) where proceeds go to Water for Life Charity.
  • If you’re an maker or artist, make a special print or collection focused on the water crisis and have proceeds go toward your fundraising efforts.
  • Host a 5k, pilates class, or other event! This can be either virtual or in-person.
  • Start a Go Fund Me.
  • Coordinate an event at your office with coworkers.
  • Work with local businesses to donate goods or services and host an auction.
