Access to water is one challenge. But access to clean, safe water that doesn’t threaten individuals’ health with a single sip is yet another obstacle many communities still face.

In an orphanage we visited outside of Cusco, staff and children rely on tap water that is not safe for drinking, cooking, or sanitation. Individuals have to boil water to make it safe, using precious time and resources. But even this solution became another challenge when a regional gas leak led to infrastructure damage. As a result, the cost of gas significantly increased, making it even more difficult for the orphanage to have safe water.

In collaboration with our distribution partner ROAM Humanitarian, Water for Life Charity provided several water filters to connect to the facility’s water system, sharing a sustainable and immediate clean water solution. The orphanage now has more time, more resources, and clean, safe water. These simple filters help daily operations run smoothly, direct resources to better living situations and learning opportunities, and create better health and wellbeing.

More than changing an orphanage, VF100 water filters are creating more hope and opportunities for more than 50 children and the staff and volunteers that care for them.

Amaru Village

Volunteers also distributed water filters to families and individuals in Amaru.

Amaru is a remote, traditional Andean village. It’s community lives a traditional lifestyle that is deeply connected to the land. The people access water from nearby streams, but this water can be contaminated by livestock, making it unsafe to drink.

Providing VF100 water filters not only shared a reliable, sustainable water solution for local families, but it also allowed community members to access clean water without disrupting their traditions and lifestyle.

Because of these filters in Amaru, over 100 individuals can now continue their traditions and way of life while also having improved health and safety.

Safe water is more than water—it is the security and support to continue traditions and values wherever someone lives and whatever their situation.
