Moving for Change: 2023 Avalaunch Gives Back 5k recap

On September 30, 147 individuals came together to move for change at our third annual co-sponsored Avalaunch Gives Back 5k & Family Fun Run event. With your help we broke past records and raised funds to change lives through clean, safe drinking water. 

This is the impact we made:

• 147 race participants 
• $4,469.21 raised from race sign ups, sponsorships, and purchased filters on-site to purchase 89 VF100 water filter systems (including the filter and water collection bucket)
• 712 individuals and children who will have clean, safe drinking water for the next five years because of Water for Life Charity filters
• An additional several thousand dollars donated to the Avalaunch Gives Back Scholarship Program for Utah higher education students.

Communities, families, and children’s lives will be changed and set on a new trajectory with better health and safety and educational and economic opportunities because of you and your contributions.

Filters from this fundraiser will go directly to our two upcoming fall projects with ROAM Humanitarian in Fiji and Nepal. But we still need funding and filters for our 2024 Chimaltenango, Guatemala project with Water4Life Ministry and Kellog’s Better Days program. 

Water for Life Charity’s 2024 water project in the district of Chimaltenango in Guatemala is one of our largest projects to date. In the first half of 2024, Water for Life Charity will distribute 2,000 VF100 water filters to five communities in Chimaltenango, each community prioritized for its high rates of poverty and water contamination. This project will provide and empower 16,000 individuals and children with access to clean, safe drinking water for five years.

The Avalaunch Gives Back event provided a portion of what is needed for this incredible initiative, but more is needed to provide filters and training on filter assembly and maintenance.
